Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare & Self-Pay Options for In-Home and Telehealth IBCLC Visits
Branchburg Lactation works with several major insurance providers to help families access expert, evidence-based breastfeeding support with minimal out-of-pocket cost. Understanding your lactation benefits shouldn’t feel overwhelming — we’ve made it simple.
Aetna
We are in-network providers with Aetna. If your plan covers lactation services, you are likely eligible for up to 6 visits at no cost, including prenatal consultations.
We accept most Aetna plans EXCEPT: Medicaid, Allied Health, Wellnet, HealthEZ, and GEHA.
Do not complete The Lactation Network pre-approval form if you have Aetna
Please have your Aetna insurance card available at your visit
Important Notes:
If the birthing parent has Aetna but the baby has a different insurance that we are unable to bill, a $75 fee will apply to cover the baby’s care.
If the baby has Aetna but the birthing parent has a different insurance that we are unable to bill, a $200 fee will apply to cover the birthing parent’s care.
Cigna
We accept most Cigna plans through our affiliation with Wildflower Health.

Cigna Home Visit Fee:
A $50 home visit fee is payable at the visit. Accepted payment methods: cash, check, credit card, HSA card, Zelle, or Venmo.
Telehealth appointments are exempt from this fee.
United Healthcare / UMR / Oxford
We accept most United Healthcare/UMR/Oxford plans through our affiliation with The Lactation Network (TLN).

TLN Home Visit Fee:
A $50 home visit fee is payable at the visit.

Clients matched to us directly by TLN are exempt from the fee.
Telehealth appointments are exempt from the fee.
Out-of-Network Fees (BCBS & Other Plans)
If you are not covered by Aetna and have not received approval through The Lactation Network or Wildflower Health, payment is required at the time of your visit.

Aetna subsidiaries: Allied Health, GEHA, Wellnet
We are happy to provide superbills and documentation so you can seek reimbursement directly from your insurance carrier.
Horizon BCBS:
In many cases, Horizon BCBS reimburses two visits at 100% on the back end. Please contact Horizon directly to confirm details of your specific plan.
Self Pay Rates
Initial Lactation Consultation (90–120 minutes)
$300 in-home | $200 telehealth
Follow-Up Lactation Consultation (30–60 minutes)
$200 in-home | $125 telehealth
Prenatal Consultation (60–90 minutes)
$200
Ideal for families who want a personalized plan before baby arrives. Includes a copy of The Art of Breastfeeding.
Sliding Scale & Additional Support
A limited number of discounted or pro bono consultations are available for families experiencing financial hardship, are enrolled in WIC or are Medicaid-eligible.

Unlimited email follow-up for basic questions is included with all consultations. More complex concerns or issues requiring hands-on support may require a follow-up appointment.
